What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. Eco Shumaker spent her childhood there making things from whatever she could get her hands on. What she didn’t use for her creations served as an inspiration for them. At age six, she designed and constructed leather clothes for her paper dolls made from leather of her father’s recliner. Today Eco lives in Ventura, and although she has grown up, she hasn’t grown out of her love of the creative process. Her most recent creation, a 6 foot whale made from objects in the family junk drawer, is proof of that.
Eco’s love of color, texture and fabrics lead her to a fashion design school in Los Angeles where she enjoyed working in the fashion industry as a designer prior to marrying the man of her dreams. These days she divides her time between her two passions: her family and painting, both of which keep her busy and inspired. Given the love for the artistic process, and her intuitive gift for creating, it’s likely her talents will be seen and enjoyed for years to come.
